We were filled with all things Irish during the week of St. Patrick's Day! After reading The Night Before St. Patrick's Day, students had some ideas on how to construct a leprechaun trap. We also learned about the different symbols of St. Patrick's Day: St. Patrick used the three-leaf clover to teach about the Trinity three-in-one as the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We watched some Irish dancing and a man playing the bagpipes. We completed our blueprints of our leprechaun traps, shared how they worked with classmates, and predicted whether we would catch a leprechaun! We set our traps before we left for the day. Mrs. Champion arrived at school just as the bell rang and when we went to change our outdoor shoes, we could not find our indoor shoes!!!! We opened the door to our class and.....
We searched throughout our school and FINALLY found our shoes in the library! When we came back to our classroom we found the leprechauns had indeed visited our class, entered our traps, and left us a special note and gold coin! It looks like they escaped out the window. We will try again next year!
